Macroinvertebrate Monitoring

Monitoring Macroinvertebrates on a Budget?

Trays can usually be found at your local grocery store. Ice trays work great for sorting specimens.

Plastic pipettes with large (or cut) openings are great for sucking up larvae to transport to other trays.

Plastic spoons and pieces of window screen are handy tools for moving bugs from one tray to another.
